The 2000 Alumnus of the Year, Marc Riker, was recently named the Chief Executive Officer of the National Senior Games Association (NSGA), the world’s largest national competition for athletes over the age of 50.
Riker is also the former Executive Director of the Alabama Sports Festival where he served for 11 years assisting in planning their annual multi-sport competition before joining the NSGA staff in 2011 as the Director.
Riker also spent many years serving the National Congress of State Games, a membership organization consisting of 31 Summer State Games and 10 Winter State Games organizations. The National Congress of State Games is also a member of the United States Olympic Committee’s Multi Sport Organizational Council. In addition, Riker has volunteered with the World Olympian Association.
While serving as the YMCA Director and Head Coach for 10 years, Riker earned the American Swim Coaches Association Award of Excellence.
Riker earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Logistics from Pennsylvania State University and his Master’s degree in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy in 1998. While taking courses at the Academy, Riker served as the Alumni Association President and was named the “Alumnus of the Year” in 1997.
