William Brown’s rookie season as the men’s basketball coach at Talladega College in Alabama couldn’t have finished any better.

Brown, a master’s student at the United States Sports Academy, led Talladega to its second consecutive national title with a 65-56 victory over Southern Virginia University to win the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Division I national championship.

Talladega College is Alabama’s oldest private historically black liberal arts college and home of the famous Amistad murals. It was founded in 1867.
