Academy Welcomes Pair to Board of Trustees

Dr. Susan Blackwood

The United States Sports Academy has added Dr. Susan Blackwood, executive director of the San Antonio Sports Foundation, and Dr. Timothy Broughton, the director of teaching and learning center/athletics director at Bishop State Community College in Mobile, Ala., to its Board of Trustees.

Dr. Blackwood has been with the San Antonio Sports Foundation since 1996. She is responsible for attracting major sporting events to the city. During her tenure San Antonio has hosted three National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Final Fours and hosted the Women’s Final Four earlier this month. She also serves as the foundation’s primary fundraiser and grant solicitor, in addition to serving as a catalyst for developing sports and fitness programs for people of all ages.

Dr. Tim Broughton

Dr. Broughton has been in his position with Bishop State since 2005. He is also an accomplished author, with a number of published articles and short biographies. Among his works is the “Birth of the Civil Rights Movement in Mobile, Alabama,” published by the New England Journal of History in the fall of 2009.
