United States Sports Academy Alumnus Dr. Mark Janas recently presented Dr. William Prentice with the Academy’s 2014 Dr. Ernst Jokl Sports Medicine Award. Dr. Janas, who resides in Raleigh, NC, made the presentation for the Academy to Dr. Prentice on the campus of North Carolina. Dr. Prentice is an acclaimed author educator, and clinician at North Carolina.
Dr. Janas, who earned his EDD in Sports Management from the Academy in 2011, is a former Alumnus of the Year. Dr. Janas has several years of experience in the development of minor league basketball, spearheading the creation of the Tobacco Road Basketball League (www.trblproball.com). The Tobacco Road Basketball League (TRBL) is an independent basketball minor league with teams operating in Carolinas and the Southeast United States.
The TRBL showcases some of the finest minor league basketball talent in the country and promotes a “business first” model in minor league sports. The league will begin its fourth season of play in November 2014.
Dr. Janas also serves as the Managing Partner of In3, Inc., a software and business development firm whose portfolio includes a variety of medical technologies, software products, and sports-related enterprises, including ScoreTRAX.com.
