Dr. Monica H. Motley, the President of the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science in Mobile, Ala., recently visited the United States Sports Academy campus in Daphne, Ala. Dr. Motley was recently named the President of Alabama School of Mathematics and Science after serving as the Director of Student Services since 2011.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Motley served from 2005-11 as an Assistant Professor at the University of South Alabama, teaching mainly human growth and development and counseling courses. She also has teaching experience at Alabama State University, Troy State University and Auburn University.
Dr. Motley received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Auburn in 2005. She earned her M.Ed. in School Counseling from the University of South Alabama in 2000 and received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Alabama State in 1998. Dr. Motley earned Alabama Educational Leadership certification from Auburn in 2008.
She has received a number honors and recognitions, including being named the 2010 Outstanding Professional Development Award by the Alabama Counseling Association. Dr. Motley is an Executive Council Member for the Chapter VIII of the Alabama Counseling Association and the Southern Region Representative for the Association for Multicultural Counseling & Development division of the American Counseling Association.
