Academy President and CEO Dr. Thomas P. Rosandich was invited to London by International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) President Jacques Rogge to attend the art show opening on July 22 of the IOC’s 2012 Sport and Art Contest at Guildhall Art Gallery. He was also invited by Great Britain Prime Minister  David Cameron to participate in the Global Business Summit on Assisted Medical Technologies on Sept. 3 at the British Business Embassy in London on the occasion of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London this year.

Dr. T.J. Rosandich, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, is traveling to Malaysia for the Academy’s International Diploma in Physical Education and Scholastic Sports (IDPESS) program and to China to further partnerships with the Shaolin Temple.

Dr. Fred Cromartie, Dr. Will Evans, Dr. Arthur Ogden and Betsy Smith, Academy residential faculty members, are traveling to Malaysia for the Academy’s International Diploma in Physical Education and Scholastic Sports (IDPESS) program for three weeks beginning July 25.

Dr. Stan Dawdry travelled to Thailand to teach “Introduction to Sports Security Management” and Dr. Larry Miller travelled there to teach “Sports Strength and Conditioning.” The courses are part of the Academy’s International Certification Sports Coaching program with the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT).

Brandon Spradley, an Academy teaching assistant, Chih-Yin Tai, a doctoral student and former research assistant at the Academy, and Dr. Jordan Moon, an Academy distance learning faculty, made presentations recently on a study examining the effects of pre- and post-workouts using a MusclePharm supplement at the 2012 National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) conference in Providence, R.I.

Daniel Moore, the Academy’s 2005 Sport Artist of the Year, recently completed the painting, “Shutout,” for the Academy’s 2012 College Football Game of the Year that featured the University of Alabama’s 21-0 victory over Louisiana State University in the national championship game.

Oscar Pistorius, the Academy’s 2008 Juan Antonio Samaranch IOC President’s Disabled Athlete Award, was selected as one of 62 athletes to represent South Africa at the 2012 London Olympic Games. He will also try to defend his three Paralympic sprint titles that he won in Bejing in 2008 at the Paralympic Games also being held in London
