Opie Otterstad, the 2006 Sport Artist of the Year, visited the United States Sports Academy on Thursday, 25 March. Otterstad has focused primarily on sports for the last 18 years, and most recently captured the New York Yankees’ 2009 World Series championship with a celebration painting.
Otterstad’s works are on display at the Academy. His gallery includes works in many sports — baseball, basketball, boxing, football, golf and hockey. He is scheduled to be part of the Academy’s online book, “Sport as Art: The Artist and the Athlete.” The book will celebrate more than 25 years of Sport Artists who have been honored by the American Sport Art Museum & Archives (ASAMA).
