Sports Academy alumni teach in international program in Malaysia, China and Thailand

The United States Sports Academy has a number of alumni, who are teaching in its international programs. The Academy currently has programs in Malaysia, China and Thailand. Below is a listing of alumni who are teaching overseas.

Dr. Jamie Butikofer (U.S. Sports Academy Degree; Ed.D. in sports management)
International Assignment: Thailand

Butikofer has worked as the Assistant Athletic Director at Habersham Central High School in Mount Airy, Georgia, for the past ten years. Butikofer earned his doctorate in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Ala., in 2008. Butikofer also received his master’s degree in Physical Education from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, in 1991 and his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1988.

Dr. Dexter Davis (U.S. Sports Academy Degree; Ed.D. in sports management)
International Assignment: Shanghai

Davis is currently an assistant professor of sports management in the College of Hospitality and Tourism at Niagara University. Davis earned his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Houghton University in Houghton, N.Y., in 1982. He earned his master’s degree in Physical Education from Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1997 and his doctorate in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy in 2001.

Timothy Dornemann (U.S. Sports Academy; current Ed.D. student)
International Assignment: Malaysia

Timothy Dornemann currently serves as a visiting instructor at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Fla. Dornemann also serves as the Director of Educational Programs for Sports Performance Sciences and a consultant at Heart Rate, Inc. Dornemann earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Rockford College in Rockford, Ill. and his master’s degree in Physical Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is currently pursing his doctorate in Sports Management from the Academy.

Bryan Johnson (U.S. Sports Academy Degree; M.S.S. in sports studies)
International Assignment: Malaysia

Johnson has served as a coach at various colleges and programs for more than 10 years. Currently, he is the head women’s softball coach at Shoreline Community College in Shoreline, Wash. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, History and American Indian Studies from Black Hills State University in Spearfish, N.D. Johnson later earned a master’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., and a master’s degree in Sport Studies from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Ala.

Alan Ledford (U.S. Sports Academy degree; pursuing Ed.D. in sport management)
International Assignment: Malaysia

Ledford is a faculty member at Miami Jacobs Career College in Dayton, Ohio, and an online instructor at Miller-Motte College in Wilmington, N.C. Ledford has over 10 years of experience as an instructor and as an administrator in higher education and athletics.

Ledford holds a master’s degree in Physical Education from East Tennessee State and a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Wilmington College of Ohio. He is also pursuing a doctorate degree in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy.

Dr. Scot Long (U.S. Sports Academy Degree; M.S.S. in fitness management)
International Assignment: Thailand

Long is currently an Exercise Physiologist and Adjunct Professor of Kinesiology at Mississippi College and a personal trainer and fitness consultant to clients of all ages. He received his doctorate degree in Human Performance at the University of Southern Mississippi and his master’s degree in Fitness Management from the United States Sports Academy and completed his bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in English from the University of Mississippi in 1990.

Mr. David Shrock (U.S. Sports Academy Degree; Ed.D. in sports management)
International Assignment: Thailand

Shrock is currently a professor of health and physical education at Modesto Junior College in Modesto, Calif. Shrock graduated summa cum laude with a doctoral degree in Sports Management in 2009 from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Ala. He also graduated with honors from San Jose University with a master’s degree in Physical Education in 1983 and a bachelor’s degree in History in 1981. Shrock also received an associate’s degree in both Social Sciences and Travel and Tourism.

Dr. Barbara Wise (U.S. Sports Academy Degree; Ed.D. in sports management)
International Assignment: Thailand and Shanghai

Dr. Wise currently serves as an instructor for all Prehospital programs for Pima Community College in Tucson, Ariz. She has both taught and worked in the emergency medical field for nearly 25 years, including working 14 years as a paramedic. Her teaching experience includes developing curriculum for several different courses in emergency medicine. Dr. Wise, who earned her master’s in Sports Medicine from the United States Sports Academy in 2006, also completed her doctorate in Sports Management at the Academy in 2013. She received her bachelor’s from the American College of Prehospital Medicine.
