Hello, my name is Taylor Rogers and I am the Alumni Relations Coordinator here at the Academy. I received my undergrad from the University of South Alabama in 2017 in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Currently I am enrolled in the Sports Management masters program here and look to graduate in the fall 2023. I look forward to getting to know our alumni better and becoming part of your inner circle as an alumna myself one day soon!

United States Sports Academy President and CEO Dr. T.J. Rosandich has been reconfirmed as a member of the Youth, Education and Culture Commission of the Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs (FICTS), an international organization which promotes the universal idea of culture through sport. Officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), FICTS promotes and spreads the development of Olympic values and the culture of sport through film and television. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Milan, Italy, FICTS has 116 member countries. The mission of the FICTS Youth, Education and Culture Commission is to follow the IOC’s guidelines in spreading Olympic values such as ethics, respect, peace and fair play to young people around the world. In Memoriam: Dr. Stan Drawdy

Dr. Stan Drawdy The United States Sports Academy is mourning the loss of Dr. Stan Drawdy, who served the institution as a member of its distance learning faculty for two decades. Drawdy, 68, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 after a brief illness. Drawdy was well respected by his peers and loved by his students, as evidenced by this comment from one of his students in their course exit survey. “The best course I had at the Academy was Coaching American football because Dr. Stanley Drawdy was a wonderful instructor and football is a sport I was eager to learn more about.” In addition to his service to the Academy as a distance learning faculty member, Drawdy also taught abroad for the institution. Academy Student Vicki Mengel Rising through Collegiate Softball Coaching Ranks

Vicki Mengel, a softball coach in Maryland, is quickly rising through the ranks in collegiate coaching. In five short years, Mengel has moved up from coaching at Havre de Grace High School to last year helping form and be the head softball coach for Cecil College. Now, Mengel earned her first Division 1 assignment as a volunteer assistant softball coach at Delaware State University. With one foot in the door, Mengel hopes that after she completes her Bachelor of Sports Science degree in sports coaching from the United States Sports Academy, she will be able to secure a Division 1 head coach position. Sport Corruption Fighter Richard McLaren Receives Honorary Doctorate from USSA

International sports corruption fighter and renowned doping investigator Richard McLaren received an Honorary Doctorate from the United States Sports Academy at the institution’s recent Founder’s Day event in April. Each year as part of its Awards of Sport program, the Academy presents its Honorary Doctorate to a person who has made outstanding contributions to sport and to society. Academy President and CEO Dr. T.J. Rosandich and Board of Trustees Chairman Bob Campbell presented the award to McLaren during the institution’s commencement ceremony in Daphne, Ala., on 22 April 2022. McLaren also served as the commencement speaker and participated in the Academy’s 50 Years of Sport and Education Symposium as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.
