The United States Sports Academy is seeking a motivated and energetic self-starter to assist in our quest to recruit and communicate with prospective students and parent bases. The Admissions Counselor will assist with day-to-day correspondence, information gathering, direct communication electronically, telephonically, and digitally with current interested student prospects. This position will partner with members of the university faculty and staff, write and report for the web, assist with event planning and enrollment activities, and support direct communication both internally and externally. This is a people job that requires a personality and work ethic driven by people skills and sales. Applicants must be motivated to sell, serve, and perform with the admissions team every day. Under the direction of the Director of Admissions, this position will represent the administration of the university in building relationships with our prospective students and parents by providing information and access.

Duties:

  • Maintain steady communication with all inquiries, applicants, and accepted students via email, traditional mail, and phone calls.
  • Provide accurate information and explanation of academic programs to all inquiries, applicants, accepted students, and current students.
  • Assist potential students in securing all necessary materials to complete the application process.
  • Conduct on-campus meetings involving visiting prospects, students, faculty members, and alumni.
  • Work closely with financial aid and billing department to communicate financial information to prospective and current students.
  • Ensure knowledge of students’ rights and maintain confidentiality of student records and responsibilities under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Maintain security of information stored on computer databases.
  • Maintain and update prospect and student information in the Student Information System (Campus Cafe) and properly file all information both electronically and in hard copy.
  • Complete routine reports related to recruitment, personal schedule, travel, special programs and professional development.
  • Upkeep a positive professional attitude and publicly support the institution.
  • Contact high schools, local community colleges, and other sport entities to build relationships and reach potential prospects as directed by the Director of Admissions.
  • Network with associates and friends in the world of sport to reach potential markets.
  • Stay abreast of recruiting trends to target potential prospects.
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications department to develop new academic promotional materials.
  • Assist in overall marketing, recruitment, retention, and admissions planning.
  • Create virtual presentations through educational technology applications.
  • Participate in the student recruitment process for potential undergraduate and graduate students including the filing of admissions documents.
  • Prepare booth displays and trips as needed to conventions, conferences, and college fairs, educational campuses for direct contact with prospective students and administrators.
  • Work periodic evenings, weekends, and travel both locally and out of state.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions, Dean of Enrollment Services, and/or the President.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in business administration, sales, or related fields.
  • College admissions and/or sales experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are required.
  • Ability to speak to all types of people and public presentations are required.
