The Director of Communications and Marketing reports to the President and CEO and is responsible for leading the Academy’s strategic marketing and communications efforts. This includes serving on the President’s Cabinet and the marketing committee. The position is responsible for development and evaluation of communications, marketing and advertising plans and materials, publications (print and electronic), media relations and press releases, brand promotion, social media strategies, and awards programs, as well as supervising the Department of Communications staff. The position is responsible for strategic communications and marketing efforts in support of student recruitment and retention, as well as activities to enhance relationships and visibility with key audiences including alumni, faculty, staff, students, donors, the global sport community and the general public.
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field required with 3-5 years’ experience in public relations; must have excellent written communication skills including experience writing press releases and marketing materials, as well as the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment within strict deadlines. A sports marketing or sports related background is a plus, along with proficiency with desktop publishing programs. Position is located in Daphne, Alabama.
