The American Open Beach Handball Championship was held April 24-26 in Gulf Shores, Ala., and the United States Sports Academy was there to provide educational support to those involved. When the action wasn’t taking place on the courts located just outside the famous Hangout, as shown in this picture of a match between women’s teams from Colombia and the U.S. on Saturday afternoon, event competitors and officials were being instructed in a four-part course on beach handball and its rules by National Faculty member Ms. Dede Piankova, who was assisted by Director of Continuing Education Dr. Brandon Spradley. The 53 individuals who completed the course received certificates of participation from the Academy.
