The United States Sports Academy is pleased to announce that after a two-month hiatus due to the impact of COVID-19 on global sport, the institution’s monthly online Athlete of the Month ballot will return next week. The Academy is now soliciting nominations for your favorite athletes from the month of June.
The Academy’s Athlete of the Month Committee – comprised of esteemed members of the Academy faculty and staff – will meet in early July to select six male and six female athletes from all over the world for the ballot, which will then be posted on the Academy’s website beginning Thursday, 3 July.
The online ballot is one of the many fun things we do here at the Academy. Our Athlete of the Month Committee goes to great lengths to produce a monthly ballot that features six males and six females who represent sport at its highest levels from around the world. That ballot is then released to our email distribution lists numbering more than 15,000 names and attracting votes from every corner of the globe.

It is a testament to the destructive influence that the COVID-19 virus had upon the worldwide sport community as virtually every sporting event at every level around the world had been cancelled or postponed. The Academy hopes that as the world begins to open up again, so too will the world of sport.
