Academy President and CEO Dr. Thomas P. Rosandich received the 10th annual Mobile Arts Council’s Art Patron of the Year Award during a ceremony at the Mobile, Ala., Saenger Theatre Aug. 29.

Retired U.S. Air Force Gen. Paul Hankins, who is president of Alabama Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (AAICU), visited the United States Sports Academy campus to meet with Academy President and CEO Dr. Thomas P. Rosandich and his Cabinet to discuss several higher education issues.

Dr. T.J. Rosandich, the Academy’s vice president and COO, attended the board meeting for the World Leisure Congress Organizing Committee to plan for the group’s arrival in Mobile, Ala., in 2014.

Dr. Stephen Butler, the Academy’s Dean of Academic Affairs, has been named to the Board of Directors for the Gulf Coast Interstate Relay, an annual two-day cycling and running relay from New Orleans to Pensacola Beach, Fla.

Mr. Brandon Spradley, the Academy’s residential doctoral teaching assistant, completed concussion awareness training at with athletic directors, athletic trainers and coaches at Clark-Shaw Magnet School, Phillips Preparatory Middle School, Mobile County Training School, LeFlore Magnet High School and B.C. Rain High School, which are all in Mobile, Ala.

Dr. Skip Applin, the Academy’s former longtime Dean of Academic Affairs, has rejoined the sports university’s national faculty.

Mr. Gene Policinski, a former Academy Board of Trustees and Visitors member, recently took over as COO of the Newseum Institute in Washington, D.C., where he oversees the First Amendment Center, as well as education and outreach efforts.
