A group of students from Rockwell Elementary School visited the United States Sports Academy campus in Daphne on 25 October to study the works of Fairhope sculptor Bruce Larsen. The students toured the Academy’s outdoor display of Larsen’s sculptures like “Nastia,” “Borzov the Sprinter,” the “Weight-Lifter” and the “Iron Bowl Monument” and drew their favorites to imitate the artist’s style. Larsen uses recycled materials – steel, machine parts, industrial materials and more – to produce works of art. Larsen was the Academy’s 2009 Sport Artist of the Year.
