The United States Sports Academy is now offering an online, video-driven personal fitness course showcasing the cutting edge Finnish ProMethod concept to the general public around the world.

The Academy in August 2018 signed a cooperative agreement with the Finnish company ProFTraining Finland to provide educational opportunities to students in Finland, as well as to integrate that company’s health care techniques into Academy coursework. As part of the agreement, the Academy is now offering online, video-led continuing education courses featuring ProFTraining’s personal training concepts: the FasciaMethod, the ProMethod, and coming soon the PowerMethod.

After completing the course students will be able to plan and instruct their own FasciaMethod, ProMethod, and/or PowerMethod body maintenance programs for themselves, their clients or for a group fitness session.

ProMethod Touko19The ProMethod is built to help you optimize movement control, mobility and overall athletic performance for yourself or your fitness clients. The method can be used in training activities and will help boost athletic performance in all sports. ProMethod is designed by experienced physiotherapists and the method can be applied to all individuals from young children to senior citizens.

The Academy is offering the self-paced, 10-module course at an introductory price of $250, a $100 discount, for a limited time. Students can register for the course online here.

“These courses are historic for the Academy in many ways,” Academy vice president of academic affairs Dr. Tomi Wahlström said. “It is the beginning of our new strategy to offer courses to general public, as well as the first time we offer a course developed by our partners. In addition, this course shows our new technological standard with the use of multimedia including online tutorials, videos, audio files, and digital handouts. This course is our new benchmark and vision for all of our courses, in degree programs as well as continuing education courses.”

ProMethod LukuProMethod’s carefully selected screening tests help you to define your customer’s musculoskeletal and myofascial functioning and health. After studying this method, you can analyze your client’s myofascial continuities and their functioning, previous injuries, current dysfunctions and symptoms as well as their muscle support and activation during movement. Based on this holistic analysis, you’ll be able to design an individual training program that suits your customer’s needs and goals and builds their optimal physical performance in a healthy way.

Coming soon to the Academy’s online offerings, the PowerMethod is an exercise concept that focuses on building one’s muscle strength and endurance as well as movement control and mobility by applying functional, myofascial training methods. After studying this method you will know how to teach proper, efficient performance techniques to both build muscle strength and to support your customer’s musculoskeletal health and avoid injuries.

The PowerMethod is designed by experienced physiotherapists and athletes, so the focus in this method is both in safe performance techniques as well as in bringing your customer’s physical performance and body strength to the next level. During this course you’ll also get a sneak peek into FasciaMethod, since this famous exercise method is used in warm up and cool down. The PowerMethod strength training method includes a variety of whole body dynamic exercises that build muscle strength and endurance, together with healthy movement control and mobility.

The Academy’s new courses are part of an initiative by the institution to offer more consumer-targeted post-secondary, non-degree sports education courses through its Center for Professional Studies and Continuing Education.
