Director of Library/Archivist

The United States Sports Academy is seeking a professional librarian who will plan and implement Library activities. The Director of Library/Archivist will provide student assistance regarding computer usage, literature location, database usage, and reference material. Responsible for organizing books and collection cards for easy location and reference. Conduct annual book inventory. Complete search activities for research being conducted by faculty. Complete NAAL quarterly and annual reports. Responsible for purchasing, cataloging, processing and checking out books needed by faculty members. Responsible for the Academy’s archives. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in Library and information Science. At least 2-5 years in this specific field. A background is sport is desirable. Experience in working with media and proficiency in using a variety of Windows applications and software is a must. Ability to work independently and initiate projects when necessary, ability to communicate effectively, organizational ability, ability to work under pressure, ability to develop and adhere to deadlines. Exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills are required.


International Teaching Assignments

The United States Sports Academy is currently planning projects in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including an international certification program with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Malaysia, and is seeking qualified faculty to teach subjects in recreation, physical education, and sports. Anyone who is interested in these opportunities must have a graduate degree in a relevant field. A terminal degree in the field would be preferred. Instructors selected to teach in the program can expect reasonable compensation in addition to round-trip airfare, housing, food and transportation while on assignment. Breaks in the teaching calendar may also afford the instructors the opportunity to experience local cultures and attractions in the different locations. It is anticipated that teaching assignments will commence in July 2013 and stretch into 2014. The assignments are of varying lengths but in most instances require two week or longer commitments.


Faculty - Sports Management

The United States Sports Academy (USSA) is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a Faculty for Sports Management. This position is on campus in Daphne, Alabama. Responsibilities include teaching residential and distance learning graduate courses in Sport Management; assisting in the development of curricular offerings through the writing of courses for distance learning; engaging in scholarly activities; conducting research; making presentations in the area of Sport Management; serving on institutional thesis and doctoral committees as assigned; assisting in advising students in the Doctor of Education program; assisting in the administration of the Mentorship program; and performing other duties as assigned by the President. Qualifications: Terminal preparation in Sport Management or a related field. Experience in college or university teaching and evidence of scholarly productivity desired. Ability to operate technology associated with distance learning is essential. The successful candidate will possess a background in sports administration, business, sports finance, sport marketing or a related area. Experience with distance learning administration and online delivery system is highly desirable. Excellent computer literacy, verbal and written communications skills are required. Knowledge of and interest in sport is essential. International assignments are possible.
