The School of Sport Performance at the United States Sports Academy is seeking one full-time Instructor/Assistant Professor in Exercise Science-Practicum Coordinator anticipated to begin August 2024 with potential for earlier full-time start date.

The School and the University value teaching and expect each person hired to be an exemplary teacher, to be current in their discipline; to engage students actively in their learning; to maintain high standards regarding course content; and to be available to students through regularly scheduled office hours in keeping with department policy. Those hired are expected to participate in scholarly activity and perform career-related service roles on and off campus.

It is expected that the successful candidate be able to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Exercise Science including but not limited to Strength & Conditioning, Exercise Prescription, and Personal Training.
  • Coordinate and Supervise Undergraduate Field Experiences in compliance with CASCE Standards
  • Assist in CASCE accreditation process
  • Perform career-related service roles on and off campus
  • Coordinate Athlete Development programming with Department of Athletics

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned master’s degree at time of application in the field of kinesiology or a related field with an emphasis in strength & conditioning.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at the university level with both in-person and on-line instructional delivery platforms
  • Valid CSCS or eligibility to become certified prior to date of hire.
  • Evidence of experience supervising internships in strength & conditioning settings
  • Evidence of ability to teach undergraduate in exercise physiology and strength & conditioning
  • Evidence of the ability to work collaboratively across university divisions
  • Evidence of experience working with high performance student-athletes
  • Evidence of the ability to commit to cultivating learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students from diverse backgrounds and social identities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned PhD/EdD, or other terminal degree, at time of application (required for Assistant Professor rank) in the field of kinesiology or a related field with an emphasis in exercise physiology
  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses in exercise physiology and related topics such as: Measurement and Evaluation, Exercise Prescription, Applied Kinesiology, Facility Design & Management, and Sports Nutrition
  • Previous Experience as a Head Strength & Conditioning Coach or Athlete Performance Coach.
