Online Learning Environment

NC SARA Participating Institution

Students who choose to study in our online programs have the flexibility to take courses and complete degrees without leaving their homes or jobs. Students can complete their courses ANY time, ANY place and at ANY pace. The Academy’s degrees are delivered online in an asynchronous environment. This means professors and students do not have to be online at the same time for learning to take place or assignments to be completed.

Once students are accepted, they may register at any time in the term as courses are offered throughout the academic year. The Registrar’s Office will assign a specific time limit (16 weeks) for completion of online courses. Students who are active-duty military personnel are allowed 18 weeks to complete their online coursework.

Students access all online courses through the Academy’s Learning Management System (LMS) Canvas. This system offers 24-hour access to courses and allows students to submit course assignments, participate in discussions, take quizzes and exams, and interact with their professors and other students for their courses.

To assist students in sport research for their courses, the Academy provides access to the Academy Library and its extensive online reference database system. Online writing tutorials are available in the Academy Center for Collegiate Excellence and Student Success (ACCESS) for students who wish to access assistance and guides for collegiate writing.
