The United States Sports Academy is partnering with Bryant & Stratton College to provide an esports management certification program to students at the private college’s Virginia campuses.
The Academy has agreed to offer its innovative, four-course Certification in Esports Management program to Bryant & Stratton students beginning soon. Esports is a form of sport competition using video games, often featuring competitions between multiple players, individually or as teams, in arenas and other venues. The Academy’s esports certification program touches on four areas necessary for sports managers to understand the landscape of the fast-paced, exciting world of esports. Courses touch on the global phenomenon of esports, esports coaching methodology, esports administration, and esports facilities and events management.
Esports have swept the nation in the last few years because of the increasing availability of online streaming media platforms. In fact, Reuters reported that the global esports audience was approximately 454 million views with more than $1 billion in revenues in 2019.
“Esports is a rapidly growing field especially now due to the pandemic,” Academy Provost Dr. Tomi Wahlström said. “At the Academy, we have decided to include it into the course offerings after recognizing that it meets all of the criteria of being a true form of sport. It is important for us to be proactive and follow the trends in our industry and eSports is definitely one of the important trends.”
Additionally, the Academy has plans to offer its online Maternity Wellness Program as part of its partnership with Bryant & Stratton College.
