United States Sports Academy master’s degree graduate Terlynn Olds has been named the associate athletic director of internal operations and senior woman administrator at University of Alaska Fairbanks.

A native of Ruston, La., Olds earned her Master of Sports Science degree in sports coaching from the Academy in 2002. She has more than 21 years of experience in collegiate athletics, specifically in the facilitation and oversight of athletic programs, policies and initiatives. She also has experience in senior leadership positions that have served more than 1,500 student-athletes across multiple teams and NCAA divisions.

Olds joined the Alaska Nanooks after serving as the deputy director of athletics and business manager at Grambling State University, an NCAA Division I program located in Grambling, Louisiana. She oversaw each of Grambling’s 15 varsity athletic teams and their operations, and supervised, managed and evaluated 24 full-time coaches, 17 athletic administrators and over 350 student-athletes.

Prior to her time at Grambling, Olds served as the senior associate director of athletics for internal and business operations at Chicago State University (Division I) in Chicago, Illinois; the director of athletics at Chatham University (DIII) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and the associate director of athletics at Spelman College (DIII) in Atlanta, Georgia.

Before becoming an athletic administrator, Olds served as a longtime collegiate men’s and women’s basketball coach. Her coaching stints included time at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and Palm Beach State College, both DI institutions, while also coaching at several other DII and DIII programs.

Olds graduated from Saint Leo University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sports business in 1998. She earned a Master of Science degree in criminal justice from Saint Leo University in 2008.
